Rose Datoc Dall

Artist Bio

Filipina-American artist, Rose Datoc Dall was born in Washington, DC and raised in Northern Virginia. She received her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 1990.

Mrs.Dall’s artwork is predominately a contemporary figurative exploration in painting and printmaking.

Mrs. Dall has received several awards and honors for her work including the recent Purchase Award in 2009 for her painting entiitled Flight at the 8th International Art Competition of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which the acquisition was added to the permanent collection at the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City.

Amongst numerous exhibitions, her artwork is featured on www.mormon.org; her artwork has also appeared publications such as the book David O. McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism by Greg Prince; the Ensign Magazine; Mormonartist.com; and has been featured in Segullah Magazine; the web site, Josephsmith.net; the TV documentary, Joseph; and most recently, the Joseph Smith Papers television series. Mrs. Dalls figurative work is distinctive for her unique graphic style and use of vivid color.

Mrs. Dall’s early career in art included the Gallery Directorship at the Alliance for the Varied Arts in Utah, and Visual Arts Directorship with Zion East Foundation for the Arts in Virginia. Rose has also been an art columnist for Meridian Magazine. Currently, in addition to exhibiting, Mrs. Dall enjoys teaching private Figure Drawing and Painting Workshops and lectures on occasion as a way of giving back to her community.

Mrs. Dall is married to a supportive and loving husband with whom she has raised four children ranging from college age to elementary age in the past twenty years of marriage.
